So, I have just returned from my trip up to see The Crazy and my world-weary father. It was lovely to see them both and to spend some time together. Hubby didn’t come, he stayed and worked hard whilst I had a wee holiday. Continue reading “I Hope”
The Storm!
So, the rain is lashing down and hasn’t stopped all day. It’s battering most of the country apparently, with flood warnings in the South today and the heart of the storm due to travel up North tomorrow.
Having a Laugh
I haven’t written a blog post for a while. I don’t really know why. I haven’t done much writing of any kind for a few weeks and have been telling myself I’ve been far too busy to fit it in, but I’m not sure if that’s the truth or not. I have been busy, but no busier than normal. If I’m honest with myself I’d have fitted in some writing if I’d really wanted to. Which has made me wonder why I’ve not wanted to. The Wrong Words
I am useless with the predictive text thing on my phone. it’s not that I can’t spell, it’s that I always try and do it too fast as I am usually trying to juggle a million things all at the same time and I press send before I check through the message. Continue reading “The Wrong Words”
The “D” Word
I remember when Mum was having tests done about 18 months ago and none of us actually used the word dementia. Not for a while. We expressed our concerns to each other about her strange behaviour and also about her forgetfulness, but we all shied away from raising our deepest fears. Continue reading “The “D” Word”
Help
“Help me!”
I hear those words at least once a day from one of my brood. Usually when they can’t find something they need immediately, or if they can’t get the TV to work properly, or Mabel has got herself stuck in one of her dressing-up princess dresses. Honestly, the examples are endless. Continue reading “Help”
Pink Castles and Fairy Tales
I have ventured up to sunny Scotland (no, I am not being ironic, it really is!) with the littlest daughter to see my parents. We arrived yesterday after a long journey, where Mabel chattered away inanely for the first third of the journey, fell asleep for the second third and then moaned for the final leg. Continue reading “Pink Castles and Fairy Tales”
Giving Mo A Run For His Money!
I can hardly walk today. I am literally hobbling around and in my own mind am resembling someone who has recently had both hips replaced, both knees replaced and has had an embarrassing accident “downstairs”. I kid you not. I am also giving off strange sound effects as well – little “oohs” and “ahhs” as I attempt to get down or upstairs, get out of my car or stand up after sitting down for a few minutes. Putting my shoes on is a particularly noisy affair today! Continue reading “Giving Mo A Run For His Money!”
Can Singing Help Battle Dementia?
I was asked by a website called http://www.telmenow.com to respond to the article in the Daily Mail last week (Daily Mail – Article on Dementia).
So….Ta da! :

Advice, or something like it….
I remember my granny having Alzheimer’s in her late seventies and eighties and in its later stages she would confuse me with one of my cousins. I didn’t mind – my cousin was older than me, very gorgeous and in my mind very exotic as she lived far away in Canada. Continue reading “Advice, or something like it….”
