I went to my first Dementia Forward singing group yesterday as a fully fledged volunteer.
Chicken Pox!
So, life has been a bit busy over the past few weeks, not least because littlest daughter and champion foot stamper has had Chicken Pox, which meant that for most of last week she and I were house-bound. Continue reading “Chicken Pox!”
Wandering around Italy
I have just returned from a week in Italy with Hubby. Continue reading “Wandering around Italy”
Alternatives!
So, today I popped my reflexology cherry. I jumped into the world of alternative therapy with both feet (literally) and spent an hour this afternoon fluctuating between a state of complete relaxation (where, to be honest I had moments of panic as I thought I’d started to nod off and drool) and overheating beneath two hot towels and a large hot stone (on my solar plexus, apparently). Continue reading “Alternatives!”
Mistaken Identity
I had to laugh the other day…I was scrolling down my phone just looking at the Daily Mail headlines (don’t judge me!) when Mabel, who was sitting next to me piped up, “That like Daddy, Mummy!” Continue reading “Mistaken Identity”
The Sun’ll Come Out Tomorrow…
I had a lovely evening last night. I took my 7 year old daughter, Martha to the local theatre to see a production of Annie. She has been counting down the weeks, the days and finally yesterday, the hours until our evening together. Continue reading “The Sun’ll Come Out Tomorrow…”
In the words of a song (or two)…
A word from my dad….
Black is black !
Rock band Los Bravos released this as their debut single in 1966. It seems appropriate : Continue reading “In the words of a song (or two)…”
When Lovely Just Isn’t Enough!
Mum has had a bad night and my dad sounds very down this morning. He didn’t even try to put on a jolly front and brightly rate her behaviour and agitation out of 10. She wandered downstairs last night at around 9pm, after having got herself dressed again (one of “the lovely ladies” had been at 7.30pm and helped Mum get ready for bed and encouraged her to take her concoction of tablets). Continue reading “When Lovely Just Isn’t Enough!”
Confronting Mortality
So, it’s been a funny old week. I have just come home from a trip to the hospital to see a Neurologist after being referred quite alarmingly last week by my GP. I went to see him after my multiple trips to the opticians (see previous post Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue) due to my dizziness and the weird lights and floaters in my eyes. Continue reading “Confronting Mortality”
Naughty words!
We have had a very lazy weekend; pottering in the garden, cleaning the cars (Hubby), doing the laundry (me), the kids have been out on their bikes with some of the neighbourhood children. Archie has played football with our neighbour Harry (and destroyed all of Harry’s dad’s beautiful border flowers), Mabel has fallen over a lot and has grazed knees and a bump on her head and Martha has had a successful riding lesson. Continue reading “Naughty words!”
