So, it’s been a funny old week. I have just come home from a trip to the hospital to see a Neurologist after being referred quite alarmingly last week by my GP. I went to see him after my multiple trips to the opticians (see previous post Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue) due to my dizziness and the weird lights and floaters in my eyes. Naughty words!
We have had a very lazy weekend; pottering in the garden, cleaning the cars (Hubby), doing the laundry (me), the kids have been out on their bikes with some of the neighbourhood children. Archie has played football with our neighbour Harry (and destroyed all of Harry’s dad’s beautiful border flowers), Mabel has fallen over a lot and has grazed knees and a bump on her head and Martha has had a successful riding lesson. Dad’s Great Bake-Off!
I have escaped the chaos of the kitchen to start writing tonight. My dad is here for a couple of days on his own (to bring back the little dog he realised was too much work for him – see previous post The Visit for full details of that adventure!) and to have a break for a few days. His sister, my lovely auntie Sheila offered to go and stay with Mum for a few days to be her temporary carer and to give my dad a bit of a rest. Continue reading “Dad’s Great Bake-Off!”
Friday the 13th
May 13th. In fact, to be more precise it’s Friday the 13th of May and it’s my mother’s birthday today. The kids and I have called her and left a message on their answer machine of us all singing happy birthday in four different keys. Then she has called us back, or to be more exact, Dad must have dialled our number and she said “hello” as I answered the phone. “Who is this?” she demanded, as I wished her a happy birthday again. Continue reading “Friday the 13th”
Don’t it make my brown eyes blue!
I went for an eye test last week. After a few days of feeling a bit “weird” and slightly dizzy and spaced out, I decided that I must have some sort of brain tumour just behind the eyes and so needed an eye test to diagnose my inoperable growth. Continue reading “Don’t it make my brown eyes blue!”
What’s in a little red dress?
It’s hard to believe, but the temperature in Yorkshire hit the twenties over the weekend and was absolutely glorious yesterday. The kids went to school in their summer uniform, three loads of washing went out on the whirly gig and dried within just a few hours and I even wore a skirt (my razor had to work very hard and is now blunt!). Continue reading “What’s in a little red dress?”
“Sorry” – the hardest word?
Oh the joys of being a mother! Before I embarked on the journey of parenthood, I had visions of me in floaty summer dresses, picnicking on a warm summer’s day, my young children playing amicably around me as I made daisy-chains and chatted with other young mums, sipping some pink wine, or doling out beautifully made, nutritious sandwiches and fresh fruit. Continue reading ““Sorry” – the hardest word?”
