It is the season of sports days, school productions and ‘move-up’ days . Days filled with excitement, sunshine, nerves and fun. Archie is excited but apprehensive about starting senior school in September. Continue reading “Dementia: How To Feel Invincible!”
Dementia – More Grief Than It’s Worth?
I haven’t written a blog post for a while. The reason? Well, there’s not been too much to report, I suppose. Continue reading “Dementia – More Grief Than It’s Worth?”
“The time has come, the Walrus said…”
By my dad….
I read an article from the Times recently on one of Jane’s favourite bands, Fleetwood Mac. Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie have recently recorded a duets album together. Continue reading ““The time has come, the Walrus said…””
What Matters?
I covered an awards ceremony last night for a large care home company who were celebrating their 50th anniversary. The event was stunning; 1920’s theme, gorgeous, glamorous dresses, smart gangster-types roaming around, tiny, perfectly formed bowls of chilli and rice handed out by very pleasant and polite catering staff. It was all perfectly lovely. Continue reading “What Matters?”
Help
“Help me!”
I hear those words at least once a day from one of my brood. Advice, or something like it….
I remember my granny having Alzheimer’s in her late seventies and eighties and in its later stages she would confuse me with one of my cousins. I didn’t mind – my cousin was older than me, very gorgeous and in my mind very exotic as she lived far away in Canada. Continue reading “Advice, or something like it….”
Fighting The Lurgy
I have been a bit lazy with my blog over the past few weeks; the school holidays have inevitably had an impact on how creative I feel and how much free time I have to simply sit and think; Continue reading “Fighting The Lurgy”
Home
I used to love coming ‘home’ and would immediately feel young and free from responsibility again, like the weight and pressure of adulthood; the burden of it was lifted, left at the door along with hastily discarded shoes, coats and bags of laundry. Continue reading “Home”
